Course Requirements
None - anyone is welcome to take this class. Although it is designed for people looking for a refresher course in Mathematics it may also appeal to people who, like me, just love maths!
Can I take this class again?
Sure! Even if you have already achieved a quill in this class you are still welcome to take the class again. The only condition that I have is that you can't resubmit work for lessons you've already studied. You will see these represented as an "x" in the spreadsheet. At the moment I am working on adding more lessons so PM me if you're interested in doing the class again and want an update on my progress (or have a specific topic you want to study).
Syllabus
This course is split into the four main branches of Mathematics taught to muggle children in British schools:
- Number
- Algebra
- Geometry
- Handling Data
Assignments
Lots of lessons are planned for this course with more being added on a regular basis. You do not need to do them all! In addition there will be no final exam and no project in this class. Simply pick which lessons you want to study and send me your answers. You can send in work in any order and at any time. There will be one due date for all work in this class which is June 14th. There can be no extensions after this date so please don't leave everything until the last minute!
Points
Each lesson will contain homework questions worth up to 30 points.
Each lesson will have extra credit questions available worth up to 30 points.
Homework questions will be testing your understanding of the processes involved. Extra credit questions will be testing your ability to apply your skills to unfamiliar situations or worded questions as well as testing how much you have remembered from the lesson. These are not compulsory.
You can earn a maximum of 300 points in this class and it is up to you how you earn these points, using any combination of lessons and/or extra credit. I'll try to provide feedback where possible to help you to improve once I have marked you work. If you get an answer wrong I'll set you an extra question to see if you've learnt from your mistakes which will give you an extra chance to earn some more points towards your 300.
